Star Stories

Weekly news from the eyes of your fifth grader.
4/14/11
Today is Monday and we just had Spanish. We learned some new words, words that sounded like English words. We are listening to Mrs. Boucher read a new book, called The Missing Manatee. We are now getting ready to go outside for recess. Some of us are in the middle school solos and ensembles! They are on April 16th, this Saturday. We have also have plants that we planted in science.
Today is Wednesday and yesterday we went to Starbase and got to go inside an airplane! It was really cool! But today we had some state assessments. We had a math test and a reading test. Today is going by pretty fast! We had two recesses today and two state assessments. We are getting ready to go out to another recess when everyone finishes. Well we just got back from recess and Chase and I got stuck in the swing.
Today is Thursday and we are taking more state assessments. AAGGG! Oh well we still get to have more recesses! We have been taking math and reading assessments. My class 5A is just finishing up our math assessment and the other class 5B is finishing up their reading assessments. Then after recess and music and P.E. or whatever we're doing we will switch classes and my class will take the reading assessment and the other class will take the math assessment.
But now we're just waiting for some people to finish the test then it is hello recess (I hope.)
Anyway, tomorrow is going to be the same as today and yesterday more assessments and recess! (I think)

Another is a poster with the types of conflicts in the book.

This week we had three snowdays!! We are only going to have two days of school this week. Thursday we had to have recess inside because it was so snowy outside and it was freezing! Brrr!! We are still reading, Yankee Girl and we LOVE it! So much is going on in this book. We really like it, but it's really sad how they treat African Americans. None of us think it's right the way they treated them. We also have been reading Brians Winter. I love this book, but we're almost done with it, we only have a few pages to read! Aaawww...:(. Today is Friday and we are going to make Valentines day baskets during recess. Well that's about all that happened this week since we only had two days of school this week! Yaaaaay!!!

I am Tyler, and I am the student star for the this week.  For my class we do reading, journals, and writing.  At 9:15 we go to band for 45 mins. and then to P.E., where we  play star wars, prison ball, capture the football, and the beanbag game/dodge ball.  Then we go to music and we sing .....well, you'll have to find out at the concert what we sing.  Next we do spelling and a little more writing, and then we go to lunch, then recess.  After that, we go to Mr. Fenton's room and do math, social studies.  We go to tier time.  Finally we go home!

That's basically a normal day for Mrs. Boucher's class.
