BFG Acronym

The BFG stands for the Big Friendly Giant, of course. This is an example of an acronym. Make up another meaning for BFG or an acronym for another giant in the story. An example could be USG (Ugly Smelly Giant).

Book Orders

If any of you are ordering make sure they are turned in by October 8th.

We are currently reading the BFG by Roald Dahl. The students are loving it! They made dream jars to go along with the book. Ask your child about this book, they should be able to give you a summary of it.

Book Clubs

We are starting book clubs next week. To get more familiar with our book club author we are researching the author.
Post the following:
1. Your Book Title and Author
2. 3 Facts About the Author
3. Awards the Author has won
4. Other Books the Author has Written
5. A prediction of what will happen in your book

Recess

Recess has been fun the last couple days with the weather being so nice! The students have been dancing, playing football and kickball and playing on the equipment… of course.

Star Stories

Each week, a student in our classroom is assigned to be the Reporter. His or her job is to take notes throughout the week of exciting happenings and then write a short article about what took place. Students can use a computer at home or one of the classroom's computers. Students will type their articles and turn them in to Mrs. Boucher. Students can e-mail them, or save them to their computer. This is a great way for students to get an opportunity to write using technology, and publish their work on the internet.
