  1. We were weighing A B C & D blocks with a tri beam balance to see which one was copper steel iron or lead.

What they were doing is they were using a triple beam balance where you set something on the big metal plate and you move the hundred’s column and if one is too big and the other is too little and so you start moving the ten’s column. Then when that gets too heavy on one and the other is too light you go to the one’s column. And when the two lines are level the object is weighed! How to read it is you read the hundred’s then the ten’s and then the one’s and combine the numbers and WALLAH!!!! You have the weight of the object.
